The Tampa Bay Rays were raring to go when they played Minnessota (non XLB) at an exibition at wrigley field in the windy city. James Shields was all ready to go as in the 1st 4 innings he was perfect and struck out 7. The Rays hit liners to the outfield all night and the first one was on the first pitch seen by Carl Crawford to lead off the bottom of the 1st as a leadoff triple set up a suicide squeeze by Jason Bartlett put the Rays up 1-0. Tampa kept lining the ball to the outfield all night vs Kevin Slowey but all right to the outfielders. But visions of the first appeared when Carlos Pena hit TB's 2nd Triple and scored by TB's 2nd suicide squeeze by BJ Upton and it was 2-0 TB end 7. The most exciting play in baseball occured in B8 when Gabe Kapler slammed a liner to deep center. The veteran OF just kept chuggin and had himself a 2 run inside the park HR to put TB up by the eventual Final Minnessota 0 Tampa Bay 4. Shields was only 3 batters over the minimum in the game and had 5 perfect innings overall. Shields did allow 6 baserunners but DP's and a caught stealing made Shields only face 30 batters of a minimum 27. Shields is now 2-0 in the spring with 17 IP and 1 ER. Thats all from Wrigley and on one more note TB wants to try to get another SP and OF Goodnight everyone!
